Our block printed cloth showcases a diverse range of printing techniques from around India. All share the use of hand carved wooden blocks applied, by hand, to the surface of cloth to layer colours & patterns.
- Our direct prints focus on elaborate designs & use up to 12 different blocks to create huge depth & complexity. Created with partners in Sanganeer & Bangalore.
- Our ajrakh print, a complex 15-stage process using natural vegetable & mineral mordants, dyes & resists to achieve rich, geometric patterns, is crafted by the Khatri community in Ajrakhpur, whose ancestors have been perfecting the process for generations.
- Our dabu print utilises the application of mud to resist dyes, resulting in negatives of the pattern & is created by our partners in Bagru.
- Our discharge print is created using natural resins mixed with pigment which are then steamed to create highly textured resist prints by our partner in Bangalore.
Any variations or irregularities are to be celebrated. They are part of the design & inherent to the handcrafted production process, making this item beautifully unique. Proudly made in India.
